Weight Loss Journey

Mary’s story in her own words

“I struggled with weight all my life.

I was born to older middle aged parents who were couch potatoes and was an only child who got very little exercise.

 I was always “chunky.”

Mom was a working mother so we ate out or had convenience foods like Hamburger Helper.

By college I alternated between Bulimia, or compulsive overeating depending on whether we could afford food that week.

 I looked great though.

After college and marriage, we packed on the pounds. By 23 I was well over 200 pounds.

I could only walk a few steps without having to sit down.

I had to lie down after showering because it was so exhausting.

I rented a scooter for my 85-year-old mother for a birthday gift cruise and I ended up being the one having to use it.

I realized at 50 that I had to do something or I wouldn’t be around much longer.

I weighed 361 pounds and wore a size 5X.

  That was my wake-up call.

I went to an informational seminar about the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I signed up immediately and had my surgery in 2014. It was easy.

I dropped weight at an astonishing rate and reached my goal in two years.

Three years after the gastrectomy I was ready for the first of four excess skin removal surgeries, done by an expert Beverly Hills plastic surgeon.  The extra weight around my torso weighed 15 pounds.

I have since lost more weight and am down to 124, size 6 (extra small).

I feel incredible now. Everything is easier.

Showers no longer leave me exhausted.

I can tie my shoes and see my feet. I can take more than a few steps without having to sit down.

People don’t laugh, stare and point at me anymore. I’m not afraid to go out in public anymore.

My weight loss journey was the best thing I have ever done!

I never felt pretty enough to have a professional photography session done before.

Plus my mom just turned 90 and I wanted to give it to her as a Christmas present

as I’m not sure how many more Christmases we’ll have together. “

I didn’t know any of this when Mary scheduled her session,

but I noticed that her husband kept complimenting her on how great she looked during the session.

She finally told me of her transformation.

She left me a lovely review on my website (without me asking)    https://suttonphotography.com/reviews/
